The Sello Library is a library located in the Sello shopping centre in Espoo. It is part of the Espoo City Library and Helmet library.

The Sello Library has more than one million customers a year and is the third most popular library in Finland.

The two-storey library was opened at its current location in August 2003. Since its first month of operation, the Sello Library has been the busiest of all the libraries in the Helsinki metropolitan area.

The library has plenty of events for adults, music lovers, young people and children, and in the Workshop you can pimp up, try 3D printing and get help with IT problems.

History

Library activities began in Leppävaara in the 1920s. The Leppävaara District Library was located at Alberga's Finnish elementary school, and its collection was entirely in Finnish. At this point, the library meant two book cabinets in the entrance hall of the primary school.

In 1955, the Finnish main library received its first separate rooms in the basement of Leppävaara health centre. The premises included three rooms.

As a result of the new Library Act in 1962, library facilities had to be used exclusively for library activities, and the library's opening hours had to be extended. Thus, the staff of the main library grew to two people.
